The latest structure deck release in the TCG set the scene ablaze as it hit shelves last month. The Fire Kings Structure Deck unveils an impressive roster of new Fire King cards (including the very first Fire King Extra Deck monster) and notable reprints such as Infinite Impermanence and Droll & Lock Bird.
At an affordable price point, these structure decks can give you a highly competitive deck ready for tournament play!
Here are some of the new cards and strategies:
Sacred Fire King Garunix can be special summoned from the hand or graveyard when your fire monster is destroyed by battle or card effect, then it can destroy one of your fire monsters from hand, deck, or field and gain attack equal to half of the destroyed monsters.
Fire King High Avatar Kirin can be special summoned from your hand with a quick effect by destroying a fire monster from your hand or field. Also, if Kirin is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, you can special summon a Fire King monster from your hand or graveyard, then destroy a card on the field.
Using Garunix to destroy Kirin from deck and bring back another Fire King, or instead destroying Fire King Avatar Barong and searching Kirin during the next standby phase, are some of the bread and butter combos of the deck.
Legendary Fire King Ponix is another card that was highly anticipated for it's ability to be a one-card combo starter. On summon, Ponix can add a Fire King spell or trap from deck to hand, usually searching for Fire King Sanctuary to get to your Fire King Island.
In the TCG, we've already seen this deck perform well at large scale events, such as making top 32 at YCS Bologna in December, right after it's release. In the OCG, with the help of cards like Bonfire and Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, Fire Kings are dominating as one of the top contenders.
